Metering Pump Manufacturers by Country: Leading US, German, Italian, Japanese and Korean Brands
Project engineers often send us a short request: list the main international metering pump manufacturers. It sounds simple, but each of them is strong in quite different areas, so a bare list of names doesn't help much. Below we go country by country, with the main series and the flow and pressure figures we can confirm from each maker's literature, so you can match them to your duty.
Metering Pump Manufacturers Grouped by Country
The international metering pump manufacturers you're most likely to meet on projects come from five countries: the United States, Germany, Italy, Japan and Korea. Online "top 10" lists of international metering pump brands put them in all sorts of orders. We won't rank these metering pump manufacturers. We'll just describe what each one mainly builds.
United States: Milton Roy and LMI
Milton Roy
Milton Roy is now part of Ingersoll Rand and has one of the widest ranges of any metering pump manufacturer. Its mechanical diaphragm pumps include the G series GM/GB, up to 1800 L/h per head at 12 bar, and the MAXROY B series, up to 1100 L/h at 10 bar with a built-in relief valve. On the hydraulic diaphragm side, the Milroyal B reaches 2616 L/h per head and 250 bar, is designed to API 675 and has MARS automatic oil refill. Above that sits the Primeroyal family. The Primeroyal X literature lists up to 1380 bar, aimed mainly at chemical injection on offshore platforms.
For high flow, high pressure and petrochemical work, few metering pump manufacturers offer as much choice as Milton Roy.
LMI
LMI is Milton Roy's solenoid pump brand. The P+ series goes up to 15.1 L/h and 17.2 bar, the D series up to 90 L/h and 18 bar, and the B series up to 17 L/h and 10 bar. The PD series uses the FASTPRIME liquid end, which makes priming easier. LMI is a familiar sight on small disinfection and pH dosing duties. LMI also has motor-driven products: the EXCEL XR is a variable-speed mechanical diaphragm pump, and its communication version supports Profibus DP and Modbus RTU for points that report to a control room.
Germany: ProMinent
ProMinent is a German manufacturer. The literature we hold covers its DUODOS air-operated double diaphragm pumps, offered in 20, 50, 100 and 200 sizes in PP or PVDF. They run on compressed air at up to 7 bar and carry no electrical components. For ProMinent's other series, check the factory's current literature. We won't go into figures we can't confirm.
Italy: SEKO and Doseuro
SEKO has a broad solenoid range. TEKNA goes up to 54 L/h and 20 bar, KOMPACT up to 9 L/h and 10 bar, and INVIKTA up to 6 L/h and 7 bar. Its hydraulic diaphragm pumps include NEXA, up to 9000 L/h and 200 bar, designed to API 675, and NYVA, up to 660 L/h and 124 bar. The MS1 mechanical diaphragm series reaches 1200 L/h and 10 bar, and SEKO also builds plunger pumps.
Doseuro concentrates on motor-driven pumps: plunger, mechanical diaphragm and hydraulic diaphragm. The Model D mechanical diaphragm pump suits low to medium pressure duties with some suspended solids where leaks are not acceptable. The FM is an economy model with a reinforced PP gearbox, and its stroke can be adjusted by hand while running or stopped. For small flows there is the SDP solenoid pump with a solid PTFE diaphragm and IP65 protection. Doseuro's catalog also includes polymer preparation units and mixers, which is handy for polymer dosing.
Japan: IWAKI
IWAKI's best-known solenoid metering pump is the EHN series, with digital stroke rate adjustment from 1 to 360 spm and a wide AC100–240 V supply. Pump heads come in VC, VS, PC, PS, PP, FC and SH versions, plus auto-degassing and high-pressure types. For gassing chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite, the auto-degassing head is a popular choice. Beyond metering pumps, IWAKI also makes magnetic drive pumps, air-operated diaphragm pumps, water quality instruments and packaged systems.
Korea: Cheonsei
In China, Cheonsei sells through a distributor in Shanghai, so confirm the authorization as you would with other overseas metering pump manufacturers. Its focus is the KD series mechanical diaphragm metering pumps, in vertical KDV and horizontal KDH layouts. Wetted parts come in several material combinations, including PTC, FTC and STS. Check the chemical against the material chart when you select.
Narrowing Down the List of Metering Pump Manufacturers
Once you have the names, sorting by duty makes things clearer. For small-flow disinfection and pH control at modest pressure, look at solenoid pumps from LMI, IWAKI and SEKO. For coagulant, acid or caustic in the hundreds to over a thousand liters per hour, look at mechanical diaphragm pumps such as the Milton Roy G series, SEKO MS1, Doseuro or Cheonsei KD. For process injection above a hundred bar, or where the spec calls for API 675, look at the hydraulic diaphragm pumps from Milton Roy and SEKO. Where power is awkward and only compressed air is available, an air-operated pump such as the ProMinent DUODOS is worth a look.
That usually leaves two or three metering pump manufacturers. Send each the same duty sheet so their replies can be compared fairly.
Questions to Ask International Metering Pump Manufacturers
A list is only the first step. When buying from international metering pump manufacturers, always ask about:
- Country of origin. Some brands build certain models in Asia, positioned differently from units made in the home factory.
- Distributor authorization. Make sure it's current and find out who handles technical questions.
- Spares stock and lead time. Are diaphragms, valve balls and seals held locally? If not, how long is the wait?
- Documentation. API 675, hazardous-area approvals and material certificates should be requested early if the project needs them.
Spares deserve extra attention with overseas metering pump manufacturers. On a continuous dosing point with no standby pump, waiting for parts from overseas can mean a long shutdown.
Conclusion
The main international metering pump manufacturers are Milton Roy and LMI from the United States, ProMinent from Germany, SEKO and Doseuro from Italy, IWAKI from Japan and Cheonsei from Korea. Milton Roy and SEKO cover high-pressure hydraulic diaphragm duties widely, while LMI, IWAKI and SEKO solenoid pumps are common on small-flow dosing. Rankings make a useful starting list, but selection has to come back to flow, pressure and chemical. For routine water treatment, a Chinese pump such as NEWDOSE often does the job too, and the two can be mixed point by point.
FAQ
1. Which of these metering pump manufacturers is best for high pressure?
It depends on the pressure class. From tens of bar up to a couple of hundred, hydraulic diaphragm pumps such as the Milton Roy Milroyal B and SEKO NEXA are on the list. For higher demands, look at the Primeroyal family.
2. Are online rankings of international metering pump brands accurate?
Each list uses its own method and the positions vary widely, so we don't recommend using them to select. Treat them as a shortlist and filter by duty.
3. How should I pick a solenoid pump for sodium hypochlorite?
Start with heads that degas automatically, such as IWAKI's auto-degassing type. Check head and seal materials against the concentration too.
4. Are spare parts easy to get?
Major metering pump manufacturers usually have distributors with stock, so common parts are not a problem. For unusual models or special liquid ends, ask about lead times before you order.
5. Can international and Chinese pumps be used on one project?
Yes. Put international pumps on critical points and Chinese pumps on routine ones. As long as connections and control signals are standardized, maintenance stays simple.
